Hi, I'm
Juan. I live in the ourskirts of a big city in South America. My country
used to have large rainforests, which cleaned our air, but most of the
forest is gone now. The trees that have been chopped down and they don't
clean the air any more.
Do
you have trees to clean the air around you?
What can you do to protect the forest?
My father works for a forest protection group. We have to take care
of all the forest, and it's good to plant new trees. [Kilian - Germany]
Hi, I'm
Juan. I live in the ourskirts of a big city in South America. We have
problems here with water: sometimes it comes from our taps, sometimes
it doesn't. It's really bad when we don't have water, because then we
have to go and buy bottled water and that costs a lot. We don't have
much money, and we already have to pay for the water in our apartment.
We can't really afford to buy bottled water.
Do
you always have tap water?
Do you have to pay for it?
Can you buy bottled water if you need it?
We always have water in our tap, but my mother prefers bootled water
because of its better taste. [Egon - Hungary]
We have tap water, but we buy mineral water to drink We buy it in
glass bottles, then take the bottles back for refill. [Kilian - Germany]
Hi, I'm
Juan. I live in the ourskirts of a big city in South America. Near to
our city we have a large landfill. Some of us, kids, used to go there
to pick out things. It is really stinky there. My mom forbids us to
go there, because she thinks its dangerous.
Do
you have a landfill where you live?
Do you think it can be dangerous?
We don't have landfills, but I've heard that a school needed to
close down because there was a landfill leaking near to it. [Thea -
England]
Hi,
I'm Juan. I live in the ourskirts of a big city in South America. We
have a large dam on the nearby river and a power plant makes energy
from using the water.
We use
the river here to float logs down on it. [Dong - China]
Hi, I'm
Juan. I live in the ourskirts of a big city in South America. The place
where I live has a lot of poor people. My family struggles a lot, too.
But in our city there are many rich people. But we never see them, because
they live elsewhere, they work elsewhere, they eat elsewhere from where
we do. They travel only by car. Their children don't go to the same
schools with us.
Do
you have rich people and poor people where you live?
Do they ever meet?
How do you help the poor?
