Hi, I'm
Serena. I live in a small village in Africa. We use wood to burn in
our stoves and the smoke often fills our kitchen. This smoke can be
dangerous.
What
do you use in your stoves and heaters?
Do they pollute your air?
We use gas in our heater and it doesnt smell so it doesnt pollutes
the air. [Egon - Hungary]
Hi, I'm
Serena. I live in a small village in Africa. My family and I get our
water from two sources: the nearby river and the rain. When the rainy
season comes everyone is really happy! We collect as much water as possible
and try to store some of it for the dry months.
Does
rain make you happy?
How do you use rainwater?
I don't like rain too much, because we cant play outside. Rainwater
is used here as a watering water for my mom's house plants. [Egon -
Hungary]
Hi, I'm
Serena. I live in a small village in Africa. We don't have much waste
at home, but we heard that other countries send their hazardous waste
to be burried here. I don't think it's fair.
Where
does your country get rid of waste?
Are there any hazardous waste sites near you?
Where are they?
Are they safe?
What do you do with your dangerous trash?
Somebody just sent some hazardous waste to Hungary from Germany, because
its too expensive to get ride of it in Germany. My mother told me its
very dangerous for us. [Egon - Hungary]
Hi, I'm
Serena. I live in a small village in Africa. We have no electricity
in our house, so we don't use lots of energy. But we do use energy to
live. Our body needs energy, and we can get it through our food. We
are happy if we have enough to eat.
Where
does your body's energy come from?
How do you turn food into energy?
Do you have enough food?
Hi, I'm
Serena. I live in a small village in Africa. We have lots of sick people
in our village. The hospital is very far from us, and we cannot get
to it. We have one doctor that comes once a week and brings a few medicines.
I often see sick people die.
Do
you have lot of sick people where you live?
Can everyone go to a doctor and get medicine?
